Meet Bruce Branit; world builder. He not only creates computer generated worlds but he’s been able to live life on his own terms while doing it.
Bruce is a visual effects artist and filmmaker who joined the computer animation revolution “back in the day”, as we middle aged people now describe the early-mid 1990s. Bruce had moved from Kansas City out to Los Angeles, where he worked with my brother Ken on shows like Sliders, in addition to working on projects like Start Trek: Deep Space 9 and the film Sin City. After a few years in L.A., Bruce decided he’d rather live and raise a family in Kansas City, so he moved back.
That ended his career, right? I mean — people don’t do VFX in Kansas City. Game over, man. Game over!
Except…it didn’t end his career at all.
For close to decade, Bruce and his company BranitFX have done visual effects…not just for local commercials but shows like Lost and Breaking Bad.
That’s the world we all live in. You CAN do your own thing and do it on your own terms.
Bruce just posted his demo reel on Facebook…
And if you want to be REALLY blown away. watch Bruce’s film World Builder; a sci-fi short that will appeal to men, women, and nerds or any combination thereof.
